Ring
around the improvisational rosie - Denise McInerny leads Retreat attendees
and improv professionals in a series of round-robin exercises designed
to release participants' creativity. McInerny recommends improve as a
brainstorming and plotting tool, a way of working through writing blocks
and whenever the creative engine just runs out of steam. In her seminar
notes, McInerny explains: "When you purposely improvise, you give your
subconscious the freedom to make the connections that drive your writing
and energize your story." Local writers can get into the action at the
Washington Improv Theatre and Ballston's
ComedySportz.
